1. Agreement to Terms
Welcome to SharpStack. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the SharpStack platform available at sharpstack.dev (the “Service”), operated by SharpStack (“we,” “our,” or “us”).
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.
You must be at least 16 years old to use SharpStack. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.
2. Description of Service
SharpStack is a personalized microlearning platform designed for software developers and technical professionals. The Service delivers daily technical readings calibrated to each user's profession, stack, and proficiency level, along with interactive quizzes and gamification features (XP, streaks, levels, and leagues).
Content is generated using AI (specifically, Anthropic's Claude models) and curated from publicly available sources such as engineering blogs and news aggregators. While we strive for accuracy, the Service is intended as a supplement to, not a replacement for, authoritative technical documentation and professional expertise.
3. Account Registration
To use SharpStack, you must create an account by providing a valid email address and completing the onboarding process. You are responsible for:
- Providing accurate and up-to-date information
- Maintaining the security of your account (we use magic link authentication, so there is no password to manage)
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Notifying us promptly of any unauthorized use
You may not share your account with others or allow anyone else to access the Service under your credentials.
4. Subscription Plans and Payment
4.1 Beta Period
During the beta period, SharpStack is offered free of charge to invited users. Beta access does not guarantee continued free access after the beta concludes. We will provide advance notice before transitioning from free beta to paid plans.
4.2 Paid Plans
After the beta, SharpStack will offer the following paid subscription plans:
- Personal: $14.99 per month — for individual developers
- Teams: $19.99 per month per seat — for companies and teams (contact us for details)
Prices are in US dollars and do not include applicable taxes. International pricing with purchasing power parity may be offered in the future.
4.3 Billing and Cancellation
Paid subscriptions will auto-renew monthly until cancelled. You may cancel at any time from your account settings. Upon cancellation, you will retain access until the end of the current billing period. We do not issue refunds for partial months.
5. Intellectual Property
5.1 Our Content
All educational content generated by SharpStack — including readings, quizzes, key takeaways, and curated metadata — is our intellectual property or licensed to us. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use this content for your personal, non-commercial learning purposes.
You may share individual readings using the built-in shareable link feature. You may not:
- Reproduce, copy, or redistribute our content outside the Service
- Use our content to train AI models or machine learning systems
- Scrape, bulk-download, or systematically extract content from the platform
- Resell, sublicense, or commercialize our content
- Remove copyright or attribution notices
5.2 Source Attribution
Some SharpStack readings are inspired by articles from publicly available sources. When this is the case, the original source is credited within the reading. We do not claim ownership of those underlying sources, and any rights to them remain with their original authors.
5.3 Your Content
Any feedback, suggestions, or ideas you submit to us regarding the Service become our property and may be used without obligation to you. We encourage feedback but do not promise compensation or attribution.
5.4 Trademarks
“SharpStack” and the SharpStack logo are our trademarks. You may not use them without our prior written permission, except to refer to our Service as part of a review, article, or similar content.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or our infrastructure
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or extract our AI models, algorithms, or content generation logic
- Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to access the Service except through officially documented APIs
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service (for example, through denial-of-service attacks)
- Transmit any viruses, malware, or harmful code
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users
- Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation
- Use the Service to spam, advertise, or promote unrelated products or services
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
7. User Accounts and Termination
7.1 Termination by You
You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
7.2 Termination by Us
We may suspend or terminate your account if:
- You violate these Terms
- We are required to do so by law
- We discontinue the Service
- You engage in fraudulent or abusive behavior
In most cases, we will provide notice and an opportunity to address the issue before terminating. In cases of serious violation or legal requirement, we may terminate immediately without notice.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. While we strive for accuracy, we do not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure
- All content is free from errors, omissions, or outdated information
- The Service will meet your specific learning goals or career outcomes
SharpStack is a learning aid, not professional advice. Always verify critical technical information (especially related to security, production systems, or financial decisions) from authoritative sources and qualified professionals.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SharpStack and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:
- Your use of or inability to use the Service
- Any content obtained from the Service
- Unauthorized access to your data
- Any other matter relating to the Service
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SharpStack and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any rights of another person or entity
11. Changes to the Service
We are constantly improving SharpStack. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes in advance, especially for paying customers.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via email or through the Service. Continued use of SharpStack after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.
13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of Brazil, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved in the competent courts of Caxias do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
